It is strictly forbidden to setup personal services in the Student Residential Networks. By services we refer to any services aimed to outsiders, such as WWW, FTP, etc. The access of those who abuse the Network will be suspended.
The services offered by the University (e-mail services, Web services, etc.) are intended exclusively to the University students. Those who are not members of the University of Jyväskylä are to obtain the services either from their own place of learning or somewhere else. The University provides only the network connection to student residences.
The resident has general responsibility for all computing activity that takes place from his or her network connection. He/she needs to act according to the common good manners and his/her behaviour may not disturb others. The user must also avoid causing any extra burden or inconvenience to the communication equipment.
Commercial activities and advertising are forbidden in the FUNET Network.
The access of those who violate the rules will be suspended.
N.B. DHCP/BOOTP-service (dhcpd) should in no circumstances be turned on in any of the computers connected to the Network. The service will disturb the normal DHCP/BOOTP traffic and give trouble to all who use these services.
